Meet our Speakers:

Scott Brown

I am employed by Carrs Billington as an  Animal Health advisor and I farm by night, weekend and on the 8th day of the week. I run a fold of Highland Cattle with my wife Jane which are run regeneratively as part of an arable rotation along with a local landlord who has 1400 acres of arable ground. The Highland cows are put to a Beef Shorthorn Bull, producing bulling heifers which we sell at Oban and bullocks which we finish 100% off grass and sell direct to a Quality butcher in Edinburgh just 10 miles away. A low cost production system producing a premium product!

I am also a Board member of the Moredun Foundation and currently Chair of the Regional Chairs of the 6 UK boards. I also do ringside commentary at the RHS and some local shows through the summer months. In 2019, I produced a short film called " We all need a Farmer" which was directed by BAFTA  award winning film Director Jason Connery and designed to lift the spirits of our farming community during Covid.

Jim Logan

I now farm in partnership with my wife Jane and our son James on the small, owned property of Romavale, near Hawick, as well as a multitude of short-term lets and winterings. We are running 2,400 breeding sheep and 170 breeding cattle on a forage based, low intervention system. Our daughter Beth shares our passion for the industry and has just returned from a working holiday in NZ to start a new position as a farm consultant.

“Work hard and be nice to people” are the simple values that we live our lives by, with the importance of the 5 pillars of wellbeing having shown their worth to us whilst dealing with some major challenges over the past few years.

Andrea Walker

Andrea and her husband Charley started off their farming career with 50 sheep on a local football pitch!  They now have a tenancy at Barnside near Abbey St Bathans in the Borders, and two grown up children, Tom & Jessica. Together, they employ an organic, outdoor, grass based farming system, inspired by experiences in New Zealand. Farming there since 2001, they focus on producing organic beef and lamb with a sustainable approach to farming, low-input and environmentally friendly practises, reducing costs and improving soil health. They are previous winners of AgriScots’ Sheep Farm of the Year and Farmer’s Weekly Grassland Managers of the Year.
