Let’s Talk About Menopause: An Online Conversation

Go Back

Date: Monday 10 November 2025

Time: 6:30 – 7:30 pm

Location: Online via Zoom (free, registration required)

Menopause is part of life, but in farming and rural communities, it’s still something we often whisper about, joke about, or avoid altogether. Farmstrong Scotland wants to change that.

Join us for “Let’s Talk About Menopause”, an honest, warm and supportive online conversation designed to bring this important topic out into the open. Hosted by Emily Grant, former Farmstrong trustee and passionate advocate for rural wellbeing, the session brings together lived experience, expert insight and a few laughs along the way.

You’ll hear from:

Dr Heather Currie MBE, Consultant Gynaecologist, founder of Menopause Matters, livestock farmer and one of the UK’s leading voices on menopause education and support. Heather combines decades of medical expertise with a real understanding of farming life.

Jane Thomson, crofter near Muir of Ord and self-employed land liaison specialist, sharing her frank and relatable story of navigating menopause while working the land and running her business.

Together, they will explore what menopause feels like, how it shows up in everyday farming life, what helps, and why talking about it matters for everyone. The conversation will also cover early signs, practical tips, and how to support friends, family, and colleagues going through it.

This online conversation follows our in-person event at Guardswell Farm and is designed for anyone who couldn’t make it on the night. It also marks the final event in Farmstrong Scotland’s Menopause Awareness Month campaign, rounding up key themes like symptoms, support, stigma and wellbeing, and reminding us that looking after ourselves is part of good farming.

What to Expect

This is not a lecture. It’s a conversation. Only the panellists will be visible on screen, so you can tune in from your kitchen table, tractor cab, or sofa without worrying about appearances. You’ll be able to share your thoughts and questions via the chat box throughout, which our host will weave into the discussion.

The event will be recorded and shared afterwards on Farmstrong Scotland’s YouTube channel and social media, so you can catch up or rewatch at any time.

How to Join

This free event will run as a Zoom webinar. Once registered, you’ll receive a unique link to join. Attendees will not appear on screen or be heard, but everyone is welcome to take part in the conversation via the chat.

Additional resources:

Attendees will be signposted to Farmstrong’s Menopause Leaflet and Dr Heather Currie’s podcast episode, both available on our website, packed with practical advice and stories from the farming community.

We value your support!
