This October, Farmstrong Scotland is marking Menopause Awareness Month with a special episode of the Blether Together podcast.
Host Sarah Stephen is joined by Dr Heather Currie MBE, consultant gynaecologist, founder and MD of Menopause Matters, and livestock farmer.
Heather brings both her medical expertise and her lived experience of farming life to a candid and practical discussion on everything you need to know about menopause.
From hot flushes to brain fog, joint pain to rage, Heather shares why menopause is so much more than “just flushes and sweats” and why open conversations matter, especially in farming communities where support can feel harder to find.
You’ll also hear real-life stories from women in farming, including the star of This Farming Life, crofter Sally Crowe and Lesley Mitchell, a farmer from Hawick, who talk honestly about their experiences and the impact menopause has had on their lives, families, and work.
Too often, menopause is still hidden or dismissed in agriculture. We want to change that.
By sharing experiences and practical advice, we hope to break down stigma and help women and men across rural Scotland understand what’s happening and where to turn for support.
